"Bernice" Filmed @ 'T' Space Rhinebeck, NY
About Steven Holl's 'T' Space http://www.stevenholl.com/projects/t-space: On a four acre site in Dutchess County, New York, a new wooden "T" space sits near a stone "U" house from 1952, which has a steel "L" addition from 2001.
The new gallery floats over the natural landscape. It has nine steel columns and nine elevations, all integrated via proportions of 1:1.618.
A rain skin of natural 2x2 cedar is suspended on stainless steel screws. There is no plumbing, or sheetrock. The interiors are painted plywood and the floor is sanded marine plywood with all the stains of the 4 month construction process exposed.
Wooden windows, doors and skylights were specifically built for this space. The gallery is reached from the east by a gently sloping wooden ramp, and exited on a wooden ramp through the south elevation which is a large pivoting wall.
Light comes from skylights, cut to achieve 25 foot candles of natural light on the walls, eliminate the need for electricity.

BLACK and LIGHT (2007) 2:24
For this installation and video I utilized an existing window and it's surrounding architecture at the Kleinert-James Center for The Arts in Woodstock, NY in July, 2007, when the hours of daylight are near equal to those without it. The large North facing window at the end of the gallery was masked and reconfigured with multiple layers of translucent materials, contrasting the fluctuations of light and received shadows from the window with the space around it (which I had painted the most recessive black I could mix). This installation successfully distilled all incoming information to light and shadow and projected to the interior, the ever-changing patterns in the natural world
This video was conceived and set up by myself, shot and brought to final by videographer Dean Janoff. We shot continuously over one 24 hour period in time lapse, at one image per minute. The camera was stationary. The video has not been enhanced in any way..

Occupied Space (Aug. 5, 2013)
Time lapse video filmed from the interior of the window intervention, OCCUPIED SPACE @ Imogen Holloway Gallery July 5- August 11, 2013. Utilizing rudimentary methods and common materials such as wax paper, tin foil, acetate, and tape, Heather Hutchison attempts to cool the temperature of the mid-summer sun pouring through Imogen Holloway Gallery's storefront windows. The result of these simple material's interaction with the light, be it natural or not, is in constant flux depending on the time of day that Occupied Space is viewed and the angle it is viewed from.
